Important Motorcycles Equipment and Toolkits for Riders
The feeling of cool breeze driving through the body and scenic views is unbeatable. But as soon as the tire gets flat or some cable snaps, this beautiful enjoyable motorcycle trip becomes a headache. If you don’t have the necessary tools available to fix the bike the situation becomes grave. Looking through your motorcycle luggage to get the required tools but couldn’t? it is because you didn’t come prepared with the necessary tools and equipment. Get a good motorcycle toolkit, some ready-made one is available in the market. You can even get a custom ready-made for your specific bike.
Important tips
Don’t know where to begin? No worries, check the tool kit that came with your bike. Mostly those contain cheap tools. Some of them might even be stamped with the Fisher-Price tag. Get cheap and low-quality tools replaced with the best. Get a general health check for your bike before trips and tours. Keep an eye for any damage or work the bike needs. Get the oil and lubes changed and keep the chain or belt tightened. Every time before riding the bike see if anything is loose or missing.
Plan beforehand what you might have to do and when to do it, during the trip. Keep duct tape, zip ties, tire valve stems, work gloves, safety wire, couple fuses with you. You can either put all the tools and equipment in the saddlebag or buy a specialized tool bag. I would recommend a saddlebag because of the larger space and security. Have a look athow to buy a saddlebag if you are planning on purchasing one.Youcan also put your riding gear in the luggage. The following are other important things you need to have.
Tire repair kit
A tire repair kit is a must-have for every rider because you cannot always call a towing service. This works only for tubeless tires. So, either get tubeless tires or be ready to replace your tube all by yourself. Rubber plugs, an insertion tool and a small air pump or CO2 cartilage are all you would need. Either prepare one or buy a kit that has all the necessary equipment there. The pump would last as long as your battery does, or you can get a manual one that would take more space. While CO₂ cartilages take less space and are quick but are for one-time use only.
Tire pressure gauge
Riding a bike without proper tire pressure puts you in danger. To keep this critical part of your motorcycle up and running in proper shape you would need to fill in right tire pressure. Thus, you would need a tire pressure gauge.
First aid kit
First aid kit is a must-have too. No one knows when and how could they get an injury. It is just better to have one rather than riding with open wounds and pain. If an injury isn’t treated on time it could cause infection.
Flashlight
A flashlight would help you see at night either it be at camp or repairing the bike. Choose a good battery and flashlight. Make sure they will work in cold weather as well.
Battery cables
Durable and lightweight battery cables would help you at least get the bike started. Those will come in handy if you have a flat battery. However, you would have to first find a vehicle to which’s batter you can attach those. Make sure you know what you are doing so you don’t ruin the batter making the situation worse.
Motorcycle stand
Motorcycle stands are important. They would help you hold the bike straight so you can do the repairs quickly and good. Other than repairs help you clean it properly and prevent it from tripping. Paddock stands can hold the bike by swingarm and forks so you can remove or repair the wheels. Different bikes have different stands, make sure to buy the one that is for your bike.
Screwdrivers and Hex Heads
Screwdrivers and hex heads are the most basic ones but they are also the most important ones. instead of putting different screwdrivers you should put different hex heads and get a screwdriver with interchangeable tips that could work with them all. This way you can save space and have everything you need.
Do you know the emergency number by heart? Of course, none of us do. So, write the emergency number on a paper and keep it in a safe place inside a plastic bag. Make sure you know how to use the tools and repair the bike. Otherwise, they would just be consuming space.
